Cupping
Cupping therapy is an ancient technique of Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM), which uses cups (glass or acrylic) in specific parts of the body or in energy points, with the objective of relieving muscle pain, improving the circulatory system, pain abdominal pain, high blood pressure and many other diseases.
According to TCM, the suction cup has the property of cleaning the body's blood, eliminating accumulated toxins, which are produced by food and other polluting sources.These toxins lodged in the blood are understood to be one of the causes of disease.
The application of suction cups is not indicated for cases of high fever, convulsions or colic, skin allergies or inflammation with wounds and abdomen in pregnant women.
The mechanism of cupping therapy is unclear, but some researchers suggest that placing cups at selected acupuncture points on the skin produces hyperemia or hemostasis, which results in a therapeutic effect.
Some studies also indicate that stimulation of nerve points in the skin increases the release of endogenous peptides (generating analgesia) and pain control.The treatment could also help with local muscle microcirculation, promoting relaxation and reducing the tight muscle band.
Other studies also indicate that muscle relaxation can be explained by a decrease in nociceptive input or by the release of local nitric oxide (a molecule that mediates vasodilation and local blood circulation).
Dami Acupunctuur & Welzijn uses acrylic suction cups, accompanied by pumps for air suction. This causes negative pressure inside the cup, resulting in improved circulation and blood cleansing (Xue).

During the first visit (approximately 2 hours), we will conduct an assessment where we will discuss your main health concerns, review your health history, answer questions, and give you your first treatment.

During a tongue analysis, we can evaluate changes in color, shape, movement and coating lingual. This allows the Acupuncturist to observe changes in the body so that the treatment can be adjusted according to what was evaluated.
Therefore, we ask that you consume colorful food and beverages up to 2 hours before your appointment. This may affect the results of the tongue analysis. Water consumption is allowed.
