I'm Damiana Lima Boaretto. I was born in São Paulo, Brazil. I have been trained in Physiotherapy for 20 years. I have always been in love with oriental culture and knowledge, with its amazing and effective treatments! In 2016, I had the opportunity to take the long-awaited Post - Graduation in Acupuncture and Traditional Chinese Medicine Techniques. That's how my professional achievement was completed! From there, I started to integrate Physiotherapy and Acupuncture in my services, within the areas of Orthopedics, Geriatrics and Pediatrics.
I came to Holland in 2017 to accompany her husband in a good job offer and to found my own Acupuncture company. And then, “we got pregnant”! My life was only for Maternity and the professional side had to wait a while.
But the new mission “to be a mother” was very painful and valid at the same time. The vision for the Woman/Mother side began to awaken in me. I went through many complaints (mastitis, mild postpartum depression, insomnia, anxiety…) and it was only with the techniques of Acupuncture and Chinese Medicine that I felt better…the little seed of looking at Women's Health was planted in me!
Today I have my own office in Almere Poort and, in special cases, I carry out home visits. My audience is female. But I also attend men.

Treatments
Acupuncture is an ancient technique, originated in China, where the acupuncturist applies stimuli in specific points of the body, with the objective of improving immunity, treating emotional problems and symptoms of physical illnesses.
Currently, the practice of Acupuncture is no longer conditioned to the use of needles only, as it is also possible to stimulate the energy point through electric current, laser, sound vibration, color, adhesive tape, magnet, radionic crystals, moxibustion, seeds, acupressure , between others.
In addition to the techniques mentioned above, Dami Acupunctuur & Welzijn also works with complementary therapies, such as Aromatherapy and Ventosatherapy.
It is a mistake to say that acupuncture treatment causes pain. What is felt and interpreted as pain is a “tchi” sensation, that is, the needle reaches the desired depth. And here comes a slight throbbing or tingling sensation. Sometimes it is accompanied by a slight burning sensation and heaviness. These are positive responses to treatment.
In my care practice, I always ask what the person is feeling when I apply the needles. Thus, I already direct the treatment to be carried out in the best possible way.
Some people undergoing acupuncture report worsening of the original symptoms during the first few days of treatment. Changes in appetite, sleep, bowel, urine or emotional state are some of the complaints, which should not last and are an indication that acupuncture has started to take effect.
We should think that Acupuncture is the smoothing of Qi energy blocked in some areas of the body. It's like a hose with kinks that block the flow of water. If you straighten the hose, there will be pressure and the accumulated water will be eliminated with more force. This is more or less what happens when you start acupuncture treatment.
Needles are made of stainless steel and flexible, pre-sterilized, with oval tips, elongated, blunt and very fine diameters, characteristics that differ from the needles commonly used for injectable medications. Furthermore, they are always disposed of in an environmentally friendly way after each session. Therefore, the use of Acupuncture needles is extremely safe.
About the clinic
In the first consultation, an attempt is made to establish the energy diagnosis, through an assessment. Points are selected according to what was evaluated. After cleaning the skin with 70º alcohol, the disposable needles are inserted painlessly and left in place for 20 to 30 minutes.
During the period the needles are inserted, the patient is asked not to move. The later sessions are approximately the same. It is recommended that no heavy meals be eaten before treatment. After the session, normal life, no restrictions.
Treatment usually lasts from 40 minutes to an hour at a time. During each visit, the acupuncturist assesses symptoms and complaints, as well as the patient's physical and mental state. Your diet and lifestyle influence your recovery and this can also be considered.
Session frequency is personally tailored to your symptoms and your specific treatment goals.
The speed, in order to obtain positive results in the treatment, is linked to the problem or injury that the patient presents, and the individual's response to the treatment. It is sometimes possible to get immediate relief after 1 or 2 treatments. In other cases, it may take 1-2 days for a response to occur, or it may take several sessions to start noticing results.
